Cinnamon Dhonveli Maldives is one of the best surf resorts in the Maldives – and also the world – and offers its guests exclusive access to the iconic ‘Pasta Point’. Atoll Travel, which runs the surf programme on Cinnamon Dhonveli, has a strict limit of 30 surf passes per day to surf the waves at Pasta Point, meaning that if you are not pre-booked on a surf package you cannot surf in the resort. Great Escapes Diving Holidays is an approved UK agent for Atoll Travel, so you can book your surf holidays through us to guarantee your surf spot.
Getting to the resort is a simple 25 minutes speedboat ride from Male and upon arrival you will feel relaxed and excited in equal measure. The resort is centred around activity and there is certainly plenty to do here. While the focus is on surfing there is also diving, snorkelling and motorised and non motorised water sports. The resort also runs nightly entertainment and excursions to keep everyone entertained.
For those looking for a more relaxed break there is the Chaavana Balinese Spa which overlooks the lagoon and has a range of treatments and therapies to soothe your muscles after a tiring day of activity.

Getting to the Maldives is pretty straightforward with many quality carriers stopping once en-route to Male. The most popular airlines tend to be Emirates, Qatar and Etihad who each have a short transit and arrive into your destination at a sensible hour. There are direct flights with British Airways from November to March from Gatwick, but only 3 days per week. The flight time is around 11 hours to Male from London.
Upon arrival in Male we arrange for you to be met by our ground representatives and shown to your speedboat transfer. The journey time is approx 25 minutes to the resort. We also liaise with the resort to arrange your speedboat transfer back to Male to tie in with your international flight or onward connection.

The resort comprises of 148 villas, rooms and suites in 5 types of accommodation. All of the accommodation types have a King size bed, air conditioning, mini bar, tea and coffee making facilities, safe, hairdryer, lounge chair, satellite tv, telephone and wifi connection.
The 20 Garden Bungalows are located on the south of the island and are right by the waves of pasta point! Each bungalow is 2 storeys high and has it’s own balcony or verandah. Max occupancy is 3 adults + 1 child or 2 adults and 3 children.
The 40 Beach Bungalows are dotted around the north and east of the island and each feature great ocean views with direct beach access, a balcony and outdoor shower. Max occupancy 2 adults + 2 children or 3 adults.
The 36 Water Bungalows are built on stilts over the ocean and are located on the eastern tip of the island. Each bungalow is incredibly spacious and beautifully designed with a modern twist. There are also bathrobes, slippers, private jacuzzi, balcony, sofa and a dvd player. Max occupancy 3 adults.

Dhonveli’s full board package includes buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as soft drinks at meal times. There are 3 restaurants dotted around the island serving local and international dishes. The Rehendi restaurant is exclusive to the guests staying in Over Water Suites and offers sumptuous cuisine and fine wines. The main Koimala restaurant serves most of the island, is partitioned into 2 large wings and is situated on the beach. The Raiyvilaa Sunset Terrace Bar is for those wanting a snack or beverage, perfectly suited to those on all inclusive packages.
If you are part of an all inclusive package or just fancy a beverage then there are 3 cocktail bars on the island as well as a juice bar on the beach.
The Chaavana Spa is located next to the Over Water Suites and has an extensive spa menu to tempt you into some amazing treatments.
There are plenty of activities to keep you entertained while staying at Dhonveli. Watersports include diving, surfing, snorkeling, motorised and non motorised. While on the land you can enjoy beach volleyball, badminton, tennis, gym, table tennis, billiards and fussball.
The tour desk on the island also has a range of excursions that you can book onto including local island visits, sunset fishing, dolphin watching and manta snorkeling, to name a few.
Surfing and Diving
The diving is run by Meredis Dive and Relax and is a newly renovated, 5 star PADI dive centre. The island is very close to some amazing dive sites and there are many outer reefs and channels to explore.
The centre runs a number of courses and dive packages that you can book and they run daily trips to many of the 25 dive sites nearby as well as snorkeling excursions and try dives for novices.
The surfing at Dhonveli is world famous due to the ‘Pasta Point’ break, but there are also 3 other world class breaks to enjoy while staying here, Sultans, Honky’s and Jailbreak.
Atoll Travel have successfully run the surfing operation in Dhonveli for many years and limit the number of surfers to 30 per day to ensure that the breaks aren’t over crowded.
The surf guides are all ISA accredited and communicate with the boats by walkie talkie to co-ordinate quick access to the breaks.
If you need to hire or buy any equipment, the surf shop has all manner of boards to choose from, so if you don’t want to bring your board with you then there are plenty of hire options.
Surfing at Dhonveli is pre-booked only as a package, so if you are staying from 7 nights then the surf package is for 7 nights. It is not possible to book individual surfing days or sessions.
