Exclusive Escapes

Dedicated worldwide charters exclusive to Great Escapes customers

We regularly put together dedicated charter trips to offer exclusively to our clients. The aim of these charter trips is to offer our customers something a little different to the normal boat scheduling itineraries, usually offering extended trips that can take a wider range of dive sites.

Each of our trips will be hosted by experienced cruise director couples Lisa Allison and Dave Allison, or by Matt Kitchen and Anne-Marie Kitchen-Wheeler.  Many of you will already know them from the many years they worked in the Maldives or on previous dedicated worldwide charter trips.

MALDIVES: Central Atolls Manta Special, 14nts,  27 March – 11 April 2021 with Matt & Anne-Marie

Introduction to the trip, by Matt and Anne-Marie
Our special, extended, 14 night charter of MV Carpe Diem in the Maldives will visit some of our favourite sites in the central and near-south atolls. We will be spending 14 nights on-board, specifically because we want to travel and have time to enjoy the sites without rushing too much.

The boat will depart from Male on Saturday 28th March and guests will disembark on Saturday 11th April, which is Easter weekend. This means that these dates include the Good Friday bank holiday. The route will incorporate our favourite manta points in Ari and we then aim to head south to the less-visited atolls of Meemu, Thaa and Laamu, which offer great shark diving opportunities, some spectacular coral reefs and more mantas.

Carpe Diem liveaboard

INDONESIA: Komodo National Park 14nts,  30 July – 16 August 2020 with Dave & Lisa

Our special 14 nights extended Komodo National Park dive cruise will take you to the very best areas of Komodo and the Nusa Tengarra islands. Beginning and ending in Bali, with no need for domestic flights, the cruise aims to deliver a fantastic mix of classic Indonesian diving; from sheer reef walls and colourful reefs, to remote bays to seek out critters.

Having 14nts on board means we will be able to stay longer in key areas, such as Horseshoe Bay, while also allowing us more freedom to venture further afield. Incorporated into this cruise is the unique opportunity to dive Teluk Saleh, in North Sumbawa, which is famous for whale shark aggregations and this an area not usually visited on standard Komodo itineraries.

There will also be opportunities to go ashore during the cruise, including one or two Komodo dragon walks plus hikes to viewpoints such as Padar and Pink Beach.

INDONESIA: Komodo National Park 14nts,  16 September – 03 October 2021 with Matt & Anne-Marie

Introduction to the cruise, from Matt and Anne-Marie
We have always wanted to dive Komodo so we have put together a special 14 night charter on Mermaid II through our friends at Great Escapes Diving Holidays. This is an extended 14 nights cruise on the boat, plus travel time, so the entire trip is around 17 nights.

We have been in contact with some marine biologists in the area and have carefully considered the balance of weather, sea conditions and probability of marine encounters. The plan is to cover the popular sites but also use our extra time to explore more of this exceptional area and to dive the less visited areas and enjoy more time at the best sites.

This 14 night trip will start and finish in Bali with no need for domestic flights and the associated hassle with diver’s baggage
