Galapagos liveaboard

Formerly known as Sky Dancer, the Galapagos Sky is a 100ft luxury, steel hulled, liveaboard providing space and comfort for just 16 guests.

Now operating under DivEncounters, the Galapagos Sky has a professional and experienced crew of 11, including 2 experienced dive guides and operates 7 night itineraries throughout the year. Departing every Sunday from San Cristobal, itineraries include three days diving at Darwin and Wolf Islands, where hammerhead sharks and oceanic mantas can be encountered from December through to May, and large numbers of whale sharks can be seen from June to November.

Getting there
Flight time to Guayaquil (GYE) from the UK is approximately 15 hours, via a transit through Amsterdam with KLM, Madrid with Iberia or Miami with American Airlines.

A minimum stay of one stay in Guayaquil is required prior to your flight to San Cristobal. Flight time from Guayaquil to San Cristobal is approximately 1 hour 50 minutes. Upon arrival at San Cristobal Airport a member of the Galapagos Sky team will be there to welcome you, take care of your luggage and transport you to the yacht.

Accommodation & Facilities

The 8 cabins are divided into two room types, Deluxe and Master Staterooms. All cabins have ensuite bathrooms with biodegradable toiletries, fresh towels daily, bathrobes, hairdryer, wardrobe and individually controlled air conditioning. The Deluxe Staterooms (rooms 5-8) are located on the lower (Iguana) deck and have two twin beds and a port hole window. The Master Staterooms (rooms 1-4) are located on the upper (Dolphin) deck and have either a large double or two twin beds and window with sea view.

Facilities onboard include a spacious A/C lounge, flat screen TV, DVD/MP3 player, in house sound system, library and comfortable sitting area with plug points for laptop use. On the partially shaded upper sun deck there is a jacuzzi tub and sun loungers.

All diving is conducted from the spacious diving dhoni, equipped with 32% Nitrox membrane system, toilet, fresh water showers and camera rinsing tank. The Carpe Vita offers 3 dives a day.

On the main (Booby) deck there is a large air-conditioned lounge with Apple TV, music system, library, comfortable seating and fully stocked bar.  The Dolphin deck has a shaded outdoor bar with sofas, and there is also a partially shaded sun deck with sun loungers and hammocks.

Meals are served in the large dining area with booth seating located on the Booby deck. Breakfast and lunch is served as freshly prepared buffets with a huge variety of both local and international cuisine and evening meals are chef-prepared menus using locally sourced ingredients and served at your table with house wine or beer.

All diving is from the 2 large zodiacs allowing for easy access to the dive sites. Each group is guided at all times with a divemaster and naturalist guide certified by the Galapagos National Park. The large dive deck has individual gear storage beneath each diver’s station, hot fresh water showers, large two-tiered camera table with separate charging station and camera rinse tank.

Galapagos Sky offers up to 4 dives per day at Wolf and Darwin, 1-3 dives per day in the central islands and at least 1 night dive during the trip. The cruises consist generally of 7 nights with 5 ½ diving days offering 17 to 19 dives.
