Humboldt Explorer

Galapagos liveaboard
Built in 2009, the Humboldt Explorer is a purpose-built steel-hulled 32m diving boat comfortably accommodating 16 passengers in 8 air-conditioned cabins with ocean views.

The Humboldt Explorer has operated in the Galapagos Islands for many years and knows the very best places to visit. The boat is incredibly spacious and has lots of great features which are perfectly suited to divers and photographers.

The boat runs 7 night itineraries departing from San Cristobal and includes spending 3.5 days diving at Darwin and Wolf Islands, as well as land visits to see large colonies of Blue Footed Boobies and Frigate Birds, giant tortoises in their natural habitat and a visit the famous Charles Darwin Research Station.

Getting there
Flight time to Guayaquil (GYE) from the UK is approximately 15 hours, via a transit through Amsterdam with KLM, Madrid with Iberia or Miami with American Airlines.

A minimum stay of one stay in Guayaquil is required prior to your flight to San Cristobal. Flight time from Guayaquil to San Cristobal is approximately 1 hour 50 minutes. Upon arrival at San Cristobal Airport a member of the Humboldt Explorer team will be there to welcome you, take care of your luggage and transport you to the liveaboard.

Guide price: 7nts from £4150pp
Includes: 3 meals daily, between-dive snacks, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, 2-3 dives a day (days vary), use of tanks, weights and belts.

Not Included: Flights to/from Galapagos, Last evening meal (Sunday), Crew gratuities, Premium Alcoholic Beverages, Galapagos National Park tax – $100 per person, cash only payable upon arrival at Galapagos Airport, Ingala Transit Card – $20 per person, nitrox: $150 per person, Hyperbaric chamber fee $ 35 per person and Fuel Surcharge $150 per person.

Accommodation & Facilities
There are 6 twin/double cabins are located on the main and lower decks, the spacious rooms include air-conditioning, private bathrooms with hot shower, flat screen television and ocean view. Cabins 3 & 4 are twin occupancy only.

There is a spacious air-conditioned lounge with comfortable sofas, TV/DVD, books and games on the main deck, and large sun deck with sun loungers, partial shaded area and jacuzzi.

Meals are served in the dining area on the main deck with breakfast including cooked to order eggs, bacon, pancakes, cereals, toast, fresh fruit and juices. Lunches and evening meals are a varied selection of salads, potatoes, rice, chicken, beef, pork and fish.  There are also snacks available in-between dives.

Diving is conducted from two large zodiacs, which are easily boarded from the dive deck. The dive deck is equipped with individual dive lockers, large camera table, recharging station, air and nitrox filling stations, fresh water rinse tank for cameras and freshwater showers.

The first dive of the day is normally at 6:30am followed by breakfast, a dive at 10:30am, lunch at 12:00pm and afternoon dives at 2:00 pm and 4:30pm. All dives are guided and include a naturalist diving instructor.

All divers must carry a DiveAlert surface signaling device and an electronic beacon while diving (all available on board).

Tuesday – Punta Carrion (2 dives) / North Seymour
Wednesday – Wolf Island (4 dives)
Thursday – Wolf Island (2 dives) / Darwin Island (2 dives)
Friday – Darwin Island (4 dives)
Saturday – Wolf Island (3 dives)
Sunday – Cousin’s Rock (1-2 dives) / Santa Cruz Highlands
Monday – San Cristobal / San Cristobal Airport dropoff

Number of dives are based on the captain’s discretion and sea/weather conditions
