Rocio del Mar

Socorro Islands, Mexico

The Rocio del Mar liveaboard is a 27m steel vessel that accommodates a maximum of 20 guests in 10 comfortable staterooms. The Rocio del Mar offers diving in the Socorro Islands between October and May and trips are typically 10 days in duration, although some longer trips are scheduled during the season.

Well established in Mexico, the Rocio del Mar also runs dive trips in the Sea of Cortez outside of the Socorro season and offers two itineraries there; 8 days Midriff Islands (July to September) and 13 days Explore Baja trips (September and October). Check out our Sea of Cortez page for more details.

Getting here
Flight time to San Jose del Cabo (SJD) from the UK is approximately 15 hours 30 minutes direct with British Airways, or 16 hours 30 minutes with Aero Mexico via Mexico City. Alternatively you can chose to fly with American Airlines with an overnight stay in Atlanta/Houston on the outbound journey.

We recommend a minimum stay of one night in San Jose del Cabo or Cabo San Lucas prior to the liveaboard to allow for any flight changes or delays. Embarkation is at 8am at the Marina Puerto Los Cabos, which is just a 15 minute taxi ride from downtown San Jose del Cabo.

Guide price for 10 days on the Rocio del Mar from £3115pp*

 Accommodation & Facilities

Accommodation on board is in 10 comfortable twin or double staterooms. All have private bathrooms, with hot shower stalls and western style toilets, windows and air conditioning.

On the lower deck, there are six twin cabins, each with over-sized twin bunk beds, and two double cabins at the front of the boat that each have a queen bed. On the main deck there are two twin or double cabins towards the front, each with a queen bed and overhead single bunk.

Meals are taken in the large dining area, located in the lower forward part of the boat to minimize any sense of movement during meals. On the main deck there is a salon, with comfortable sofas, TV and a computer table. Outside there is a covered deck area with patio furniture, as well as a shaded sundeck with chairs.

At the rear of the boat is the dive deck. This offers good space whilst kitting up and includes a large camera table for preparing your equipment between dives.

The dive platform makes it easy to board the two 18ft inflatables, from which all diving is done.

The Rocio del mar has 80 cubic ft. aluminum tanks that are both DIN & yoke compatible.

Stay a bit a longer

Guadalupe trips are not particularly easy to combine with other diving spots, but there are endless possibilities for extending your stay. If you choose to travel via San Diego, then adding a domestic flight to see other regions of the United States is very straightforward and quite cheap. Popular choices are to head over to visit the Grand Canyon National Park and Monument Valley, or Los Angeles or San Francisco. The choice is yours!

For flights via Tijuana, then staying on in Mexico is your best option. This is a wonderful country to explore. You can head inland to the countryside, or to visit Mexico City.

If you did want to add on something that included diving, then you could – if you are happy to allocate a full day of travelling – consider flying over to the Yucatan Peninsular, where you can dive the Cenotes Cave systems, Cozumel and visit ancient Mayan ruins.

Whatever you may fancy adding on to your Guadalupe trip, we will be happy to guide you and to assist with all your travel needs.
