Sri Lanka

Ancient cities and temples, stunning scenery and wildlife and rich marine life

With beautiful beaches, incredible wildlife, ancient cities, spectacular mountains, Buddhist temples, tea plantations, stunning diving and UNESCO World Heritage Sites, Sri Lanka really does have something to offer everyone.

Formerly known as Ceylon, Sri Lanka celebrated 70 years of independence in 2018 and, almost 10 years after the end of its civil war, has been named the best country in the world to visit in 2019 by Lonely Planet.

From diving with blue whales in Kalpitiya, exploring one of the many nature reserves or national parks where you can spot herds of elephants, water buffalo, macaque monkeys and if you are very lucky, the elusive Sri Lankan leopards, to enjoying the country’s incredibly rich history, including the garden city of Kandy, the ancient city of Sigiriya and the fortress city of Galle, Sri Lanka makes an excellent addition to a diving holiday in the Maldives, or as a spectacular stand-alone destination!

How to get there
Sri Lanka is easily reached with direct flights to Colombo from the UK on Sri Lankan Airlines which takes around 10 hours 30 minutes.

Stay a bit longer
There is so much to explore in Sri Lanka and getting around can take time, due to the winding roads. We recommend at least 7nts to take in some of the highlights and longer if you can afford more time. But if you did want to combine it with another destination then it is perfectly located to add a diving liveaboard or relaxing island resort in the beautiful Maldives.  There are daily flights to Male from Colombo, taking only 1 hour 30 minutes.

We work closely with Lanka Sportreizen who have over 25 years expertise in putting together tour itineraries to suit everyone. We have an extensive list of tours available, including adventure tours, wildlife safaris, culture and heritage tours, diving and whale watching. All tours are private and fully customisable, so please feel free to contact us with your preferences and we will be happy to put together a personalised tour itinerary tour just for you.
