Thulhagiri is a small, natural resort situated in the middle of North Male Atoll just 20 minutes by speed boat from Male.

The island has an intimate and relaxed atmosphere with white sand beach, transparent turquoise lagoon, beautiful house reef and over 30 accessible dive sites, making it very popular with divers who return to the resort year after year.

The resort is also famous for its resident love bird population who live in the islands palm trees giving a true tropical feel.

Getting there
Getting to the Maldives is pretty straightforward with many quality carriers stopping once en-route to Male. The most popular airlines tend to be Emirates, Qatar and Etihad who each have a short transit and arrive into your destination at a sensible hour. There are direct flights with British Airways from November to March from Gatwick, but only 3 days per week. The flight time is around 11 hours to Male from London.

Upon arrival in Male we arrange for you to be met by our ground representatives and shown to your seaplane transfer. The journey time is approx 25 minutes. We also liaise with the resort to arrange your seaplane transfer back to Male to tie in with your international flights or onward connection.

Accommodation

Get some rest
The resort has a total of 90 rooms divided into 2 categories, Beach Bungalows and Water Bungalows. All rooms have air conditioning, satellite TV, ceiling fan, tea and coffee making facilities, mini bar and WiFi.

The 55 detached Beach Bungalows are located on the beach and have spacious bathrooms with outdoor shower and private veranda with loungers. Maximum occupancy 3 adults/2 adults and 1 child.

The 35 Water Bungalows are located over the lagoon and have a 4-poster bed, large enclosed bathroom and sundeck with direct access to the ocean. Maximum occupancy 2 adults.

Facilities

Enjoy your stay
The resort’s main open-air restaurant is located by the beach and serves generous buffets of international and local cuisine for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Next to the restaurant is the Sand Bar which overlooks the swimming pool and is the perfect place to enjoy pre-dinner drinks. There is also evening entertainment hosted here, including crab racing, scuba evenings and live music. In addition there is also the Sunset Bar which overlooks the ocean and serves snacks throughout the day and a variety of wines, beers, spirits and cocktails.

The island has a swimming pool, well equipped gym, table tennis, badminton, volleyball, over-the-water spa offering various treatments, watersports including windsurfing, waterskiing, catamaran sailing, kite surfing, wake boarding and stand-up paddle boarding.

There are also various excursions on offer from big game fishing and sunset dolphin cruises to Male visits and private desert island picnics.

Diving

Go diving
The diving is run by Sub Aqua and the dive centre is located next to the jetty giving easy access to the house reef. Qualified divers can enjoy unlimited house reef diving via the three access points. The reef runs along the length of the island with good coral and excellent fish life, including turtles, reef sharks and napoleon wrasse. There is also Thulhagiri Kuda Thila, just west of the island, which can be reached from the house reef, here you can spot lobsters, nurse sharks, stingrays and leaf fish.

Boat dives are offered as full day or half day trips. The daily half-day trips include the sites HP Reef which is 40 minutes boat ride and has schools of fusiliers, tuna and jacks, grey and white tip sharks, eagle rays and large napoleon wrasse cruising around in the current, Manta Point (Lankan Reef) which is just 35 minutes from the resort and during the south-west monsoon is a very active manta cleaning station and Rasfari Manta Point which during the north-east monsoon this is one of the best and most reliable cleaning stations to see mantas.
