Socorro IslandsThe 42m Socorro Vortex is a former Canadian Coast Guard vessel which has been completely redesigned as the ultimate in diving liveaboards providing the highest standards in safety, comfort and luxury, accommodating just 14 guests in 7 spacious en-suite cabins.
The Socorro Vortex offers unforgettable diving experiences from November and June diving with humpback whales, hammerheads, silky, silvertip and whitetip sharks, dolphins and Pacific manta rays in the Socorro Islands. From August to October the Vortex heads to Guadalupe, one of the best places in the world for thrilling great white shark encounters.
Getting there
Flight time to San Jose del Cabo (SJD) from the UK is approximately 15 hours 30 minutes direct with British Airways, or 16 hours 30 minutes with Aero Mexico via Mexico City. Alternatively you can chose to fly with American Airlines with an overnight stay in Houston on the outbound journey.
We recommend a minimum stay of one night in San Jose del Cabo or Cabo San Lucas prior to the liveaboard to allow for any flight changes or delays. On your embarkation day, you will meet the crew from the Socorro Vortex at the Hospitality suite at the The Bahia Hotel & Beach House in Cabo San Lucas, from 1330. The Socorro Vortex departs port no later than 1600.

Includes: 8/10 nights accommodation in a luxury stateroom cabin on a full board basis, complimentary high end bar that includes the best Mexican wines and a wide variety of handcrafted beer, wi-fi, all diving, tanks and weights, air and Nitrox fills, fuel surcharges, harbour fees, National Park fees, Mexican sales tax and transfers from host hotel to Socorro Vortex.
Package excludes: International flights, overnight hotel stays, Hyperbaric chamber contribution: 15 USD (per trip – payable on board), airport transfers, equipment rentals and crew gratuity.

Accommodation & Facilities
The Socorro Vortex has 7 luxury staterooms, each cabin has individually controlled air-conditioning, flat-screen TV and en-suite bathroom with complimentary toiletries and towels.
The 4 luxury staterooms are located on the lower deck and have 2 single beds which can be converted into a double and porthole windows. The 2 junior suites are located at the bow in the main deck and has ample storage space, 2 twin beds that can be converted into a king double and picture windows. The Master Suite is located behind the bridge on the upper deck and has a Californian king bed, sofa, walk in wardrobe, panoramic views and private access from the salon and outdoor lounge.
There is a large air-conditioned lounge located on the main deck with bar area, as well as a large open-air lounge and on the upper deck with comfortable seating, outdoor dining and grill area. There is also a spacious shaded sun deck with sun loungers, deck-chairs and jacuzzi.
Meals are served in either in the air conditioned dining room or the open-air dining and grill area. Meals are a mixture of buffet and table service offering a large selection of Mexican and international cuisine. Plenty of snacks are available throughout the day, together with a complimentary selection of soft drinks, water, tea/coffee, beer and wine.
The large dive deck is located at the rear of the main deck and has ample space for each diver with personal lockers, fin storage, camera table with low pressure air hose, 2 fresh water rinse tanks and 2 hot showers. The majority of the diving is from the rear dive platform where there are entry/exit ladders located at the rear corners providing easy access to the water. For sites not accessible from the main boat, there are 2 22ft zodiacs, each with their own sturdy, custom ladder.
